Apple has a happy Mac problem, and it’s bad news for shoppers out there
For weeks, the Mac mini has been in utterly short supply, with shipments even stretching into months for certain configurations. Why though? AI, and more especially, the rush to run AI agents such as OpenClaw. The situation with the $599 MacBook Neo has been no different. During its earnings calls, Apple confirmed that customer uptake of the cheap laptop has been off the charts. The situation is no different for the desktop Macs. “Realistically, on the Mac mini and the Mac Studio, I believe it will take several months to reach supply-demand balance,” outgoing chief Tim Cook told journalists on the call. The AI demand is not waning, so expect supplies to remain tight in the coming months. Samsung, one of the biggest memory chipmakers, says the supply issue will further worsen heading into 2027. |
